Elsa M. González Álvarez
Elsa M. González Álvarez is Tenured Lecturer in the Department of English at the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain), where she teaches English language, Contrastive Linguistics and Research Methods in English Linguistics. She obtained a PhD at the USC in 2002 with a dissertation on lexical innovation in interlanguage. She has participated in a number of research projects related with second language acquisition and the grammar-discourse interface, financed with European, Spanish and Galician funds. Her research interests include second language acquisition, contrastive linguistics and discourse analysis. She has published contributions such as Interlanguage Lexical Innovation (Lincom, 2004) or Task-effect on the use of lexical innovation strategies in interlanguage communication (Multilingual Matters, 2007), and has co-edited, amongst others, the volumes Current Trends in Contrastive Linguistics: Functional and Cognitive Perspectives (John Benjamins 2008), Languages and Cultures in Contrast and Comparison (John Benjamins 2008), and Contrastive Discourse Analysis: Functional and Corpus Perspectives (Equinox, 2013).
